Arm and Disarm
The alarm is controlled by remote. For remote button functions please see description below in conjunction with image above.

Arm Vibration sensor
Press the ‘V/on’ or’ Closed padlock’ button to the left hand side of the remote control, the alarm will make “Du, Du, Du” prompt sound & flash its light, about 5 seconds later, it makes a “Bi” sound indicating it has entered arm mode. In arm mode, the LED lights will flash intermittently on a continual basis,  if the vibration sensor is activated it will intially make a warning alarm sound for 2 seconds; if any more motion or vibration is detected within 2–12 seconds, the full alarm with sounds for 30 seconds. After this time the system will auto-reset, so if interference continues, it will continue to repeat the cycle until the interference stops.

Arm Magnetic door sensor
Press the central ‘Door logo button’ or ‘ Lightening logo’ button to the botton edge of the keyfob, the alarm will make “De, De, De” prompt sound, and the lights will flash. NB Ensure the magnetic sensor is no more that 20mm away from the right hand side of the siren unit otherwise the full siren will ring.  In arm mode, the LED lights will flash intermittently on a continual basis. If the magnetic sensor is pulled more than 40mm away from the siren alarm unit the full siren will ring for 30 seconds.  After this time the system will auto-reset, if interference continues (door/window open etc more than 40mm etc), it will continue to repeat the cycle until the interference stops.

Arm Vibration and Magnetic sensors together
Please note the Vibration sensor and the Magntic door sensor CANNOT be armed together. Only one sensor at a time can be used.

Arm SOS Siren

Installation

Installing Vanolarm light

Orientation

The Siren Alarm unit can be mounted in ANY orientation to suit your requirements. This said, please be mindful that if you wish to use the magnetic door sensor, then the fitting location should allow for the magnetic sensor to be fitted adjacent to the right-hand side (side with arrow head) of the unit.

3M sticking Pads

PRIOR to Application of the 3M sticky pads, ensure all fitting locations have been fully cleaned, degreased, free of dust and dried (if applying to plastic door cards etc, it is recommended to clean the surface 1st with methylated spirits, or similar, to remove any silicon surface when may be on the plastic).  Failure to do so could see the sticky pads failing over time. 1st peel away protection paper to one side of the sticky pad, ensuring you DO NOT place your finger to the sticky surface as oil from your skin could prevent the sticky pads from working correctly. Then apply pads to the rear side of the siren alarm unit, within the defined areas. Press firmly across the full face (remaining paper surface) of the sticky pad to ensure a strong bond to the siren alarm. Once you have chosen the best location for the siren alarm (we recommend fitting as near to door/window lock locations and if possible mounting to the main metal body work of the vehicle), then peel the protection paper away from the other, exposed, side of sticker (ensuring again not to get fingers onto the sticky surface). One peeled off, press the unit firmly onto the surface you wish the siren to be fixed to. Push firmly up and down the face of the siren to ensure application across the full face of the sticky patch. NB As well as ensuring the surface is fully clean, do not apply a sticky pad to cold surfaces (not below 15 degrees C). Best practice is to apply when the surface area is at ambient temperature (21 to 38 degrees C). If applied in cold temperatures, warm the surface first (using a hair dryer or heating torch), ensuring temperature of the surface does not go above 45 degrees C.

Application to door panels/door cards, etc

As we as applying the sticky pads to the main metal body work of the vehicle (preferred), the sticky pads can also plastic door panelling, etc (including windows). Ensure the surfaces you are fixing to are firmly fixed to the vehicle; otherwise false alarms when using the vibration sensors are more likely. NB Some plastic surfaces, especially the mottled types, can be coated with a silicon layer. If you feel the latter is the case with your vehicle, then we recommend scouring the surface or cleaning with Methylate spirits (or similar) to allow the best bond possible.

Using tie wraps

In 99% of instances, most will choose to use the sticky pads for application. This said, in some instances, especially if mounting outside the vehicle, some may feel a more physical form of fixing may be preferred. In these instances, you can use the ‘Zip’ tie wraps supplied. To use these, simply slide the wraps through the designated holes, to the top and bottom areas to the rear of the siren, then in turn wrap the tie wrap around the surface/object you wish to secure the device to (eg, bike rack, etc). Finally, slide the slim, sharp end of the tie wrap into the zip holder to the other end of the tie wrap and pull tight. Ensure the rigid face of the tie wrap is the correct way around in the zip holder by attempting to pull the inserted section away. If the inserted section pulls out, then turn the tie wrap around so that the ridged face locks the tie wrap in place.

Fixing inside or outside

For the security of the device itself we recommend fixing the siren system within the vehicle first and foremost. This said, some may wish to add additional protection to roof racks, bike racks, engine bays, etc. Also, by adding additional sirens externally to the vehicle, this can draw extra attention due to the sound not being suppressed by the vehicle’s panelling and installation, etc. As the siren units themselves have a waterproof rating of IP66, then they can mounted out without issue. Please see fitting/application advice as above. Although the unit is waterproof, we recommend, if possible, when using the sticky pads, to ensure the siren is in a shaded area and one that is not constantly exposed to water ingestion.

Mounting Magnetic Sensor

magnet instructions

As the Vibration sensor will adequately protect the entry points you choose, whilst also activating prior to entry, most with choose to use the Vibration settings as their principle point of protect. This said, some may wish to protect their vans whilst they or their pets are inside the vehicle. As the vibration sensors can be set off in such circumstances, we have added the option to protect the entry points using magnetic door sensors as an option.

When fitting the magnet door/window sensors, the siren alarm unit should be placed to one of the door/window opening and the magnet door sensor to the adjacent side.

As the siren sensor can be fixed vertically, upside down or vertically the only thing to ensure is that the arrow on the face of the siren unit points towards the position you have placed the magnetic sensor. Also ensure that the face of the magnetic sensor that also bares an arrow logo, faces or is adjacent to the arrow on the siren alarm.

If mounting both units face on then the maximum gap between both units is 20mm (any more will see the siren activating automatically). If mounting the magnetic sensor on its side, then the mounting surfaces can be 40mm apart, yet the face edge of the magnetic sensor must also not be more than 20mm away from the side of the siren alarm unit.

Although we obviously supply 3m sticky pads for mounting the magnetic sensor, for easy installation, we recommend where possible that the magnetic door sensor is also screwed into place.

Linking Sirens to one (or more) remotes

Vanolarm lite instructions link fob

First & foremost we recommend not to install the siren units into your vehicle until any linking has taken place.

If you have purchase a Vanolarm lite system that protects 2 or more entry points, then you’re most likely wish to link one (or more) of the remote control units provided in order to control the full set of siren alarms. To link the remotes to the full set of sirens please see below:-

  • By factory default, the alarm and the remote control have been paired and can be used directly. When special circumstances require pairing, please follow this method:
  1. If you have not pre-armed the siren unit then, long press the main unit power key (to the right hand bottom edge of the siren alarm unit) for about 3 seconds, let go when the main unit sends out “Bi”, and then enter into the state of code pairing. Then press any key of the remote control, the main unit will sound “Bi Bi…” twice. The pairing is successful.
  2. If no signal is received from the remote within 30 seconds, the alarm will exit the pairing state.
  3. Only 1 remote can be paired at a time. Repeat steps to pair more.
  4. One main unit can be linked to a maximum of 8 remotes.
  5. Delete all pairing (use with caution):
First press remote off/disarm button, then press and hold the main power button on the side of the smart alarm for about 10 seconds. After one “Bi” and then “Bi… Bi… Bi”, release. All paired remotes will be cleared.
  6. In some cases it may be necessary to remove batteries from the siren unit after linking a unit, in order to link a new siren unit etc.
  7. If struggling to use these Vanolarm lite instructions we recommend seeing our comprehesive Video instructions page here for further help with linking a remote to several siren units. NB If opening casing on the sirens, then ensure this is done at room temperature (and not cold conditions, as cold conditions can cause the retaining lugs to become brittle & subsequently break when opening).

Cloning a remote controlled fob

Clone remote to remote

If you have more than two siren alarm units, then you can use one or more of the remote controls provided to manage all the siren units within the set. This said, please ensure you have linked the sirens to one remote (as above) prior to carrying out the following instructions.

To link/clone an additional remote control to the same siren unit as an existing remote control, simply follow the below instructions:-

  1. Press the power button (button to the bottom right hand edge of the of the siren device), holding it down for 3 secs, ensuring you here a beep and see a flash of the LED light.
  2. Press the off/disarm button (unlock button on the right hand side of the remote control). The siren unit will then give a ‘beep beep’ sound and flash twice/ The remote control will then be linked/cloned to the new/additional siren unit. NB if you leave more than 20 seconds after pressing the power button on the siren unit and pressing the unlock button on the remote control then the units will not link).
  3. To link/clone another siren unit to the same remote control then simply repeat the above. NB if you have already added several alarms to the master remote control, these will NOT automatically link all together to an additional remote and the above instructions will need to be repeated on each linked siren accordingly (see video here)

Adjust 7 levels of sensitivity

Alarm with 7 levels of sensitivity

Depending on the circumstances in which you wish to use the vibration sensors (top of a windy mountain, thunder storm etc), then you may choose to lower or heighten the level of sensitivity for the siren alarm units.

The siren units, are pre-armed to the most sensitive level of vibration sensitivity.

As said the siren unit has 7 sensitivity levels from high to low. These are prompt by the sounds – Duo Re Mi Fa Sou La Si correspond to 7 levels from high to low. Duo sound is the highest level.

 Setting Method:

  • Step 1. Press off/disarm button once, then press and hold off/disarm button for several seconds until the siren beeps & flashes once, KEEP holding the off/disarmm button until the siren beeps and flashed twice. The led to the top of the remote should then show in red.
  • Step 2. Press the on/v or arm button in sequance to select sensitivity level  (you will hear Duo Re Mi Fa Sou La Si in sequence which corresponds to 7 levels of sensitivity from high to low).
  • Step 3. Once you have reached the level of sensitivity you desire, simply press the off/disarm button to fix the setting. Then all is complete.

Low Battery Warning/replacement

When the main unit’s power is low, a “chirp~” sound will occur after arming or disarming to indicate a low battery. Additionally, in disarm mode, the LED will flash slowly once per second as a warning. Please replace the battery to suit.

When the power is very low, pressing any button will only result in a “chirp” and the main unit will not function.

If the remote range noticeably decreases , then replace the remote control battery accordingly.

Open key fob

NB If opening casing on the sirens or remote, then ensure this is done at room temperature (and not cold conditions, as cold conditions can cause the retaining lugs to become brittle & subsequently break when opening). To open the Siren Alarm unit, either use the 4-edged metal device provided or a small head slotted screw driver. To the bottom of the Siren alarm you will see two small recessed slots. Place the correct sized slotted screwdriver or opening device into one of the recessed areas and turn device/screwdriver sharply left or right. The top bottom parts of the siren alarm should come apart slightly. Then place the relevant device in the other slot and turn left of right sharply again. The two parts should then come apart even further. After then the see either side of the siren alarm unit, where there will be a single recessed slot. Again insert the opening device and twist sharply left or right. At this stage, the two parts may come fully apart, if not, repeat the same to the other side. If the two parts are still not fully apart, then simply pull them apart from the bottom edge.

When replacing the AA batteries ensure NOT to use low-budget batteries, preferably use long-life well known brands. Budget batteries usually have a low life expectancy, and in some instances, do not have the amps necessary for operating the device.

Replacing & Installing batteries in NEW generation Siren units

General Information

The device is supplied with batteries already installed from the factory.
If you need to replace or install the batteries: When opening casing on the sirens or remote, then ensure this is done at room temperature (and not cold conditions, as cold conditions can cause the retaining lugs to become brittle & subsequently break when opening).

  1. Remove the bottom cover as shown in the diagram below.
  2. Insert 2 x AA alkaline batteries.
  3. When the batteries are installed correctly, the unit will beep “Bi..” and is ready to use—no activation required.

If the device will not be used for a long period, it is recommended to remove the batteries to prevent damage.

Battery Safety & Handling

To extend battery life, do not install or store the device in direct sunlight or high-temperature environments, as heat can cause batteries to discharge faster and shorten their lifespan.

Replace batteries as soon as performance becomes low to avoid the risk of battery leakage and potential damage to the device.

Opening the Alarm Housing (Bottom Cover Removal)

  1. Insert a pry tool (or a large flathead screwdriver) into one of the bottom slots.
  2. Gently pry up and down to create a small gap.
  3. Insert the tool further into the gap and apply firm pressure to open the housing.
